This Course is recommended for those who are convinced – like us – that a superficial Course is not enough to learn how to control a car at high speeds.
It is attended by both individuals and Companies who invite both their Managers and their Clients.
You learn the basics of high-level driving. How to manage understeer (at high speeds) and how to master the car when the rear end skids.
For this reason, every student learns to perform the "donut" while drifting on slippery surfaces.
Then we move to the track, with study of the trajectories and several laps driving, with the Instructor always by your side.
For an unforgettable day.
The cars are obviously high performance: Nissan 350Z and Porsche Cayman as standard.
Additionally, upon request, Nissan GTR, Jaguar F-Type and Ariel Atoms (small single-seaters, but with the Instructor by your side) can be used.
Duration:
1 day (1/2 day on equipped Pads + 1/2 day on Track)
2 days (1 day on equipped Pads + 1 day on Track)
Location: at the racetrack in Monza or at the main Italian and European Racetracks.
Daily schedule: from 8 AM to 6 PM approximately, including the theory lesson.
Group Composition: 6-8 students with 2 Instructors + 1 track assistant + 1 group assistant.
PROGRAM
Theory - Reasoning about the car and study of trajectories.
Acceleration and braking. Rectilinear motion, curves and centrifugal force. Concept of friction and grip.
Analysis of tire behavior on the road surface. Importance of the conformation of the road surface and the type of tire. We talk about "little hands" and "little pyramids". Emergency braking with dry and wet roads, with and without ABS. Dodging a sudden obstacle, in the same situations. Understeer and oversteer. Directionality of the axles on front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and 4x4 cars. Grip circle and grip oval. Dynamic weight variation and dynamic variations of grip ovals. Transfer of longitudinal and transverse loads. Reaction of the car in curves and management of emergency situations in curves. How to prevent and react to hydroplaning. Hints on cornering trajectories and advice for correct and prudent driving on the road.
Exercises on equipped pads
The "lively" exercises start on the wet pad. Taking advantage of differentiated section tires and using inflation pressures absolutely unfeasible in normal driving, the "movement" begins. We start with understeer exercises, to understand how important directionality is and how negative drift is. Then a power skid is provoked at very low speed. First a complete spin is done, then one learns to control it. Then the brainteaser: you have to do the donut, that is, a complete lap of the slippery pad in continuous counter-steering in the manner of Scandinavian rally drivers. Thus, with the donut, in addition to learning and having fun, one manages to exorcise a situation that is very dangerous on the road. In one of the first exercises the Skid Car is used: we do the "Angel's flight". In a straight line, at low speed we have the opportunity to correct the car while it travels a long stretch in an almost continuous skid. Then we study how to do the "pendulum". Handbrake turns are done, to become more and more familiar with the car.
TRACK
On the track, several curves are covered, studying the trajectories. To prepare well for the track, the "legendary" heel-and-toe is learned.
We are ready for the track, driving not only fast, but learning to use our brains...
At the end, the podium awaits us – and Pavarotti's voice – to award the winners.
