How many times, before leaving for a skiing holiday, have you apprehensively checked the condition of the road surface? In recent years, climatic variations have caused significant snowfalls on Italian roads even in the center-south, changing the statistics of winter driving.
Snow Courses give you a lot of confidence with this particular road situation and, by removing the psychological barriers that a driver usually has in these cases, allow you to learn a fluid and error-free driving style.
We use cars with 3 types of traction, so that each student can perform the exercises with the same type of traction as the car they usually drive.
Tires of different sizes and possible studding are used to simulate the various reactions of the car on snowy roads.
Duration: 1 or 2 days.
Daily schedule: from 8.30 AM to approx. 6 PM, including theory.
Cars available for each group: 1 VOLVO S60 T5 (front-wheel drive), and 1 VOLVO T5 all-wheel drive. Option: 1 NISSAN 350Z
Group Composition: 8/10 students. Available staff: 2 Instructors + 1 track assistant + 1 group assistant.
THEORY - Reasoning about the car
It is practically the same as the Track Courses. Trajectories on asphalt are only mentioned and, logically, all specific problems of driving on snow are covered.
TRACK EXERCISES
Exercises on snow follow those of the Track Courses. The Skid Car is not used because you slide very well anyway! Braking, for obvious reasons, is done at lower speeds.
The donut, the pendulum, and every other drift on the snow are a real blast. The tires include decreasing sections and increasing studding, as the students' skills improve.
The approach to the track takes place on the small tracks into which the Palus San Marco Circuit is divided; the snow walls begin to hypothesize a road situation. Laps on the full track, then, are the quintessence of driving and fun for the student.
In the two-day Course, there is more time for basic exercises and naturally many more laps of the track are completed, with curves and situations of all kinds.
